When I Restore Peace to My Soul: Gua Maria Sawer Rahmat, Kuningan, West Java, Indonesia

Gua Maria Sawer Rahmat (Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto) is an interesting place to visit. For Catholics, it is one of pilgrimage sites in Indonesia, where people can seek inspiration for their spiritual journey, strengthen their faith, hope for the grace and off course they can pray there.

Meanwhile, for Non Catholics, it is a worth place for meditation or renewing our sprititual. Its site provides a peaceful and wonderful atmosphere, perfect to "cool down" from a hot city and hectic routinities.

Situated on the eastern slope of Ceremai Mountain, West Java, Indonesia, Gua Maria Sawer Rahmat is built on Totombok Hill in Cisantana village, Cigugur district, 900 meters above sea level. It is reached by driving just 5 km away from Kuningan City, West Java.

Its name has special meaning for the local people. "Sawer" means the granting or outpouring and "Rahmat" means grace. So, "Sawer Rahmat" means "The Pouring of Grace", which is believed that the existence of the grotto gives them grace. Not only the local people, lot of visitors also believed that they receive the blessing after visiting it.

For me, Gua Maria Sawer Rahmat is special place, coz I spent my childhood here and i can relieve the difficulty or restore peace to my soul, especially when I'm too tired of my life. I always want to come back to this place, to recall my beautiful childhood memories, to recharge myself and to seek the serenity of my soul.
